Mercedes-Benz to launch production in Russia in April 2019

13:07 - 1.02.2019

February 1, Fineko/abc.az. The first Mercedes-Benz cars will come off the assembly line of the Russian plant in April of 2019.

The statement was made by Moscow Oblast’s governor Andrey Vorobyov. He pointed out that all works are on schedule, and now start-up work at the enterprise is underway.

At the first stage, the Mercedes-Benz plant, located in the ‘Esipovo’ industrial park of Solnechnogorsk district of Moscow Oblast, will begin assembling e-class sedans. Then the plant will master assembling crossovers GLC, GLE and GLS. The plant will produce cars on a full cycle, including welding and painting of bodies. The creation of local production is unlikely to reduce the price of cars, but will allow the company to participate in tenders for public procurement and expand its presence in the market. Initial investments in the plant are estimated at 300 million euro.
