February 27, Fineko/abc.az. China's technological potential will make it possible to provide worthy resistance and maintain the country's leadership in the industry in the event of the cold war with the United States in the field of technology.

Global Times newspaper writes about that, citing the views of Chinese experts.

Xiang Ligan also expressed the opinion that China will take the first place in the world in the field of 5g communication development and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. He also stressed contribution to development of Chinese company Huawei, "a developer of advanced chips for smartphones" and "sooner or later will beat in the technological sphere [American company] Apple".

In turn, Shi Dinghuan, chairman of the World Green Design Organization, said that "the more external pressure upon China, the stronger its desire to develop its domestic innovative capacity and independence in this area". "This is justified by the country's increasing spending on technology development and research," he explained.

Meanwhile, experts note that the escalation of the technological confrontation between the two countries will have negative consequences for both sides.

"Despite forecasts that the cold war may force China and the U.S. to develop their own, isolated technological ecosystems... in some areas the two countries are too intertwined, to completely eliminate cooperation. Cooperation between China and the U.S. covers quite a wide area, including sphere of science and fundamental research," Dinghuan said.

In his turn, Ligan said that "no one will win if the U.S. and China close the door to each other".

"If this happens, both sides will suffer great losses," he concluded.
