April 2, Fineko/abc.az. As of 28 February the total assets of the banks operating in Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 29.95 bn and total liabilities AZN 25.708 million.

The Financial Markets Supervision Chamber reports that the balance capital of the banking sector amounted to AZN 4.242 bn. Assets of the banking sector for February increased by 1.2% (AZN 348 million), liabilities by 0.9% (AZN 222.3 million), and balance capital by 3% (AZN 125.5 million). The banks’ loan portfolio increased by 0.7% (AZN 88.9 million) in February up to AZN 12.629 bn.

Retail deposits for February amounted to 8.118 bn. In the 2nd half of the year the deposits increased by 1.7% (AZN 137.8 million).

Last month banks’ operating profit amounted to AZN 113.7 million and net profit AZN 49.2 million.

The operating 30 banks includes 509 branches, 130 sub-branches and 2,524 cash machines. Staff growth in the banking sector continued in February. Thus, this February the number of employees increased by 0.5% (95 people) up to 17 683 people.
