Another group of students complete “Business Education for Engineers” course at Baku Higher Oil School

April 18, Fineko/abc.az. Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted a meeting with the third group of the students graduating from “Business education for engineers” course, a joint project of BHOS and BP company. It was attended by the Higher School top managers, students, lecturers and other key staff members, and representatives of BP management. Before the ceremony, BP Communications, external affairs, strategy and region vice president Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli made a presentation on the issues related to geopolitics in the region, and LEAD Field Engineer of Baker Hughes, a GE company in Azerbaijan, BHOS graduate Emilya Mammadova conducted a master-class for the course graduates.

Opening the gathering, Higher School Rector Elmar Gasimov emphasized that this initiative was launched for fifth-year students of national universities to help them gain knowledge and practical skills in management and business. In his words, the “Business Education for Engineers” program equips the targeted students with business management tools and techniques, and develops managerial skills they need to solve problems and make decisions, thus facilitating their more efficient integration into business environment. Rector Elmar Gasimov extended his congratulations to the course graduates on the successful completion of the study and presented them joint Certificates of Attainment from BP and the Higher School.

More than 110 students of national technical universities including the Baku Higher Oil School, Azerbaijan state university of oil and industry, UFAZ University, Baku Engineering University, ADA University, Khazar University and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction were selected for participation in the project on a competitive basis. The curriculum of two-month “Business education for engineers” course developed by professional experts includes eight core modules: presentation and communication skills; project management; time management and efficiency; leadership; risk management; introduction to finance, budget and cost control; HR management fundamentals; and negotiation skills.
