Thermal power plant ‘Azerbaijan’ under reconstruction

April 23, Fineko/abc.az. Azerenerji has reported that Mingachevir thermal power plant ‘Azerbaijan’, which caused the failure of the power system as a result of last July’s accident, is being restored and reconstructed at the most modern level.

Works on construction and reconstruction are carried out on all parameters in the 8-block thermal power plant ‘Azerbaijan’ (the largest thermal power plant in the South Caucasus providing 43% of country’s electricity demand).

Besides, work is underway on the restoration of new bridges and roads for the population through the Upper Karabakh Canal, rehabilitation of underground fire water pipes.
As a result of conducted works, plant’s capacity is going to increase by 380 MW up to 2,000 MW, and most importantly, stability and reliability will be provided at ‘Azerbaijan’ thermal power plant.
