Russia-Georgia direct flights suspended


July 8, Fineko/abc.az. The decree of President Vladimir Putin, banning direct flights between Russia and Georgia is coming into force on 8 July.

Starting from today the airlines of both countries stop mutual flights.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Russia, about 4,500 Russian tourists in Georgia refused to change plane tickets. It is assumed that they will return to Russia by transit.

According to preliminary calculations, Russian airlines will suffer damage of 3 billion rubles as a result of the ban on flights to Georgia.
