July 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan’s power generation reached 11.967 bn kWh for the past 6 months of 2019.

The State Statistics Committee reports that the indicator is by 5.6% more versus the 2018 same term.

Country’s commercial electricity for the 1st half of the year amounted to 11.549 bn kWh (5.8% more versus the 2018 same term).

Electric supplier Azerenerji’s heat power plants generated 10.6 bn kW/h of commercial electricity for Jan-Jun of the year (7.1% more against Jan-Jun 2018). Hydroelectric power plants generated 859 million kWh (12.9% less versus 1st half of 2018).

Over the 1st half of the current year Azerbaijan generated 57.7 million kWh of commercial wind power and 21.1 million kWh of solar electricity. Wind power was generated more by 8.5 times and solar power by 9.3% against last year’s indices.

The difference between the total and commodity indicators of electricity generation is linked with the fact that Azerenerji uses part of generated electricity to meet its own needs.

The Ministry of Energy informs that electricity generation in Azerbaijan reached 25.256 bn kWh last year.
