August 6, Fineko/abc.az. SOFAZ explained why Azerbaijan did not receive a place in the ranking in the World Gold Council’s official report on gold reserves statistics.

The SOFAZ statement says that WGC official report, updated on 1 August, (the report covers the statistics of gold reserves of countries of the world) Azerbaijan did not take place in the ranking due to the fact that this organization receives information about gold reserves from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and this statistics includes mainly information about gold reserves on the balance of monetary and fiscal structures, such as the Ministry of Finance and central banks.

For this reason, information on investments in gold in the State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) was not reflected in the WGC quarterly report.
