October 10, Fineko/abc.az. We briefly thought about where to hold an international summit dedicated to modern technologies of the oil and gas industry. The first reason why we have chosen Baku is that Azerbaijan is known to us as the birthplace of oil production. Among the CIS countries, the world's first oil well was drilled in an industrial way in Azerbaijan in the middle of the 19th century. SOCAR itself, as an innovative leader from angle of the introduction of modern technologies, also attracts its business partners from the CIS countries to share its experience and exchange views. Besides, SOCAR backs Azerbaijan’s state policy on digitalization of the domestic economy.

SAP CIS’ deputy general director Dmitry Pilipenko said that in an interview with journalists at the SAP Energy Forum in Baku.

Pilipenko noted that SOCAR and SAP have been cooperating together for more than 10 years: "SAP is one of the largest European programming companies. New technologies that we offer SOCAR are constantly appearing in our company. We pursue two main goals of forum holding in Baku. First, SAP itself shares its vision of digitalization of the industry, and we are also interested in establishing intensive contacts between different companies. With the support of SOCAR, representatives of such companies as Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, LUKOIL, KazMunaiGas, Belorusneft are taking part in the forum. I believe there are many issues that need to be discussed by our colleagues and come to a common opinion," SAP CIS’ official rep emphasized.
