Azerbaijani population grew by 73,360 people for Jan-Oct 2017

December 15, Fineko/abc.az. The data on the total population of Azerbaijan has been published.

The State Statistics Committee reports that country’s population increased by 73,360 people or 0.7% for the first 10 months of the year.

As of 1 November the Azerbaijani population reaches 9 341 883 people. The population density in the country is 114 people per sq km. 53% of the population are residing in cities and 47% in the rural area. At the same time, males make up 49.9% and females 50.1% of the population.

Over Jan-Oct the country registered 120,035 newborns. The birth rate per every 1,000 for the first 10 months of 2017 amounted to 14.8. Boys made up 53.1% and girls 46.9% of the newborns. 2,134 twins and 42 triplets came to light in Azerbaijan during the reporting period.

During the same term Azerbaijan registered deaths of 47,695 people. The mortality rate per every 1,000 people made up 5.9.

For the first 10 months of the year 52,061 marriages and 12,191 divorces were registered in the country.

Over Jan-Oct the relevant structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan registered 2,599 people who came to Azerbaijan for permanent residence and 1,579 people who left the country.
