October 28, Fineko/abc.az. Recently-appointed Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov gave his first interview for broadcast Həftə (Week) of TV channel AzTV.

ABC.AZ informs that in the interview Jabbarov touched upon a number of important questions and noted that activities of antitrust organizations will be strengthened for the development of the market economy based on the principles of competition.

"Antitrust organizations are intended to ensure the principle of free competition in the economies of all countries," Jabbarov underlined.

He pointed out that the main purpose of such an organization is to protect free competition.

"As business productivity grows in competitive environment, consumers' rights are more clearly protected. We still face problems in the antitrust sphere in our economy in some cases. This is manifested in various factors -primarily in the violation of price regulation and restriction of market access. That is why one of our main tasks is to improve activities of the antimonopoly authority, provide it with the necessary specialists, adopt the missing laws, and strengthen the application of the current legislation," the minister added.
