November 20, Fineko/abc.az. The number of economically active population in Azerbaijan has been published.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that as of 1 November 2019 the number of economically active population amounted to 5.196 million people. Of them, 4.945 million people are employed.

As of 1 October 2019 the number of employees in the country totaled 1.639 million, of which 909,500 are employed in the public sector of the economy, and 729,600 in the private sector. 35,000 people worked in the oil and gas sector of the economy, 1.604 million people worked in the non-oil sector.

24.2% of employees were employed in the production sector, including 7.6% in construction, 7.5% in manufacturing, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 2.1% in mining, 1.9% in water supply, waste treatment and recycling, and 1.8% in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.

As of 1 November 2019 the number of unemployed registered with the employment service reached 78,711 people. Of them, 36.1% were women. The average amount of unemployment insurance compensation was 286.5 manats.
