WB may implement two more projects in Azerbaijan – WB representative - Exclusive

December 16, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, there are four active projects of the World Bank in Azerbaijan, the total cost of which exceeds $600 million.

Zaur Rzayev, public relations adviser at the Azerbaijan-based WB representative office, informed ABC.AZ about that, when commenting on the organization's plans for the future.

Rzayev said that a few days ago he received an official statement from the Azerbaijani government about the projects to be prepared and approved in 2020 with the WB support. The WB representative also explained the essence of the projects: "There are two projects: the first - support for the self-employment program with a loan of $100 million, and with a loan of $50 million and additional funding - for the progressive judicial infrastructure project. Additional funding is envisaged for full introduction of the electronic judicial system. In addition, the WB renders technical assistance from its own funds on several directions. Among them are organization of tax administration, public expenditure management, urban transport and mobility, the financial sector. At the same time, we hope that in the coming years we’ll cooperate with the government in the direction of developing a new strategy for the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan."
