December 18, Fineko/abc.az.  The development of road infrastructure inspires the revival of entrepreneurship, tourism, and economy. Thus, the construction of national and international roads  increase the significance of the country as a transportation hub between Europe and Asia. It is also an integral part of our daily life because according to international statistics, people spend at least 43800 hours of their life on the roads. That is equal to the way to the moon and return.

Modern roads constructed both in the capital and regions have to ensure safety and comfort for the population. It is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the landscape and locations, as well as full compliance with construction standards. Sometimes roads were failing earlier due to natural disasters or breach of exploitation terms by road users. For example, a few weeks ago, as a result of the landslide near the Bibi-Heybat mosque, a highway became useless, and the road has been closed for further reconstruction. It is highly recommended to apply innovative international experience and solutions for the construction and maintenance of roads to insure against such unpleasant situations.

All issues related to roads construction were widely discussed at the Georgia - Estonia Road Construction Forum which was held in Tbilisi. It is no eventuality that the representative of Holcim Azerbaijan also was invited to the forum. Mr Ilgar Abdullayev, a Road Infrastructure Expert of the company, made interest in the participants with his comprehensive presentation on soil stabilization products, purposes and field of application and has answered all relevant questions of participants.

With global construction experience, LafargeHolcim has developed and experimented with innovative solutions to increase the sustainability and durability of roads and to ensure their full compliance with international norms. By use of this experience, Holcim Azerbaijan OJSC, a member of the LafargeHolcim group of companies, has launched the production of different types of hydraulic binders and mineral fillers in the country. Hydraulic binders "Dorosol" and "Doroport", mineral filler "Dorofil" is widely used for improving the road infrastructure of Azerbaijan and other countries of the region. Hydraulic binders improve soil's properties and by this can be reduced thicknesses of road pavement layers, and even cancelled construction of some layers which may lead to optimization of road cross section and by this can create up to 40% time savings and up to  30% cost saving in construction.

Additionally, the new digital platform ORIS (Sourcing Intelligence for Roads Optimization) has been introduced at the forum. This platform has been newly developed by LafargeHolcim and give significant economic and technical support to the road infrastructure. Based on the plan, the first installation of the platform will be in Azerbaijan and Georgia the next year. This platform will also contribute to substantial savings and the achievement of practical results in quality assurance management. At the forum, both innovative and digital solutions implemented by LafargeHolcim in the region were welcomed by the participants.
