December 18, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan employs more than 95% of the economically active population.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that as of 1 December 2019 the number of economically active population totaled 5.194 million. Of them, the employed population made 4.942 million people.

The number of unemployed persons registered in the employment service organs reached 79,700 people, and 36.3% of them are women. The average amount of insurance indemnity for unemployment amounted to 278.6 manats.

According to statistics, the largest number of unemployed citizens after Baku are registered in the cities of Sumgait, Shamkir and Mingachevir.
