December 20, Fineko/abc.az. As of 1 November 2019 the number of employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.6 million people, including 911,400 people in the public sector of the economy and 729,600 people in the non-state sector.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Statistics Committee that 34,900 people worked in the oil & gas sector of the economy and 1.6 million ones in the non-oil sector.

24.2% of employees were employed in the production sector, including 7.6% in construction, 7.5% in manufacturing, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 2.1% in mining, 1.9% in water supply, waste treatment and recycling, and 1.8% in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam. 20.3% of those working in the service sector were employed in education, 17.8% in trade; repair of transport vehicles, 8.2% in social welfare, health and social services, 4.5% transportation and warehousing, 4.2% administrative and support services 3.4% professional, scientific and technical activities, and 3.3% of the field of recreation, entertainment and arts, 1.7% in the sphere of information and communication 1.7% in the financial and insurance activities 1.6% in the sphere of tourist accommodation and catering, 1.2% in services in other sectors and 1% in the field of real estate transactions.

Over Jan-Oct the average monthly working hours per employee amounted to 151.3 hours.
