January 7, Fineko/abc.az. Opening of direct flights from Makhachkala to Baku is planned this year, says Arsen Pirmagomedov, the general director of the Makhachkala Airport.

"We are currently working over the opening of a direct flight to Baku. Its commissioning is scheduled for this year in an international direction. The opening of new airlines is planned in the middle of the year after putting into operation a new international terminal of the airport of Makhachkala," Pirmagomedov said.

The Makhachkala Airport is the only airport in Dagestan. Planes from the airport carry out flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Surgut, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, as well as to Kazakhstan, Turkey and the UAE.
