January 7, Fineko/abc.az. Some time ago, information has spread about the removal of funds from the plastic cards of Rabitabank. The Bank then reported that the problem was caused by preparations for the introduction of new features for more convenient payments and convenient tracking of payment history for Rabitabank customers.

This problem has led to the question whether customers require compensation from banks in such cases. In this regard, we applied to an expert on banking issues Ekrem Hasanov.

In his statement for ABC.AZ the expert pointed out that keeping or removal of funds on accounts is one of the main threats to our modern society. The expert, stressing that the removal of money from accounts or similar problems are caused by a failure in information technology, noted that they work with certain algorithms, even if we all trust information technology. According to the expert, if any client proves that he suffered losses as a result of the problem, the Bank should pay compensation:

"The citizen says that he had to make some important payment and could not pay due to the lack of funds on the card at the time and suffered damage. In this case, he must prove that he suffered damage. In such a case, he can certainly demand compensation from the bank. Otherwise, no. Let's say that as a result of an accidental problem in information technology, the money was removed from the account and then returned to the place. In this case, the claim for compensation is illogical."
