January 15, Fineko/abc.az. Completion of the project of extension of trunk motor road Baku-Sumgait is scheduled for May.

ABC.AZ reports that the statement was made by Saleh Mammadov, the chairman of the State Motor Road Agency.

Agency’s head noted that this highway is to be expanded in a section of about 7-8 km. Mammadov stressed that currently the laying of 1 km of roads in Azerbaijan costs 778,000 manats.

Mammadov also touched upon the issue of the number of cars traveling on this road every day: "Currently, 12,000 up to 14,000 cars go from Baku to Sumgait every day, and 10,000-12,000 cars go in the opposite direction. In 2019, the Agency was to carry out repairs and construction of 1,080 km of roads within the framework of 51 projects. The factual volume of work amounted to 1,376 km."
