Economy Minister covered theme of poverty in Azerbaijan at a Baku seminar


January 16, Fineko/abc.az. Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov announced the level of poverty in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that at a seminar organized in Baku with the purpose to form a new framework for UN-Azerbaijan cooperation, the minister noted that the poverty rate made up 49% in Azerbaijan in 2001, while at present this figure is 4.9%.

He pointed out that the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development, established in 2016 by a presidential decree, selected 17 priority goals and 88 targets for Azerbaijan: "State programs developed for these goals are integrated into national programs of activity. A rapid all-round assessment was conducted to determine whether the Coordinating Council is in line with national priorities, and the results of the assessment determined that Council’s available strategic documents are 70% compliant."
