February 5, Fineko/abc.az. State Tourism Agency’s chairman Fuad Nagiyev has addressed to the tourist community.

ABC.AZ reports that in his address the chair pointed out that in connection with the final stage of the European Football Championship to be held in Azerbaijan this year, and many guests are expected to visit our country.

Nagiyev noted that Baku has many hotels and other facilities of accommodation of economical, international and local brands in accordance with star degree. These facilities will provide comfort to foreign visitors a day before the competition. Nagiyev also recalled some of the drawbacks. According to Agency’s head, in 2019 some foreign media spread false information in order to hurt the image of our country in the final game of the UEFA Europa League, held in Baku last year, and foreign visitors were deliberately urged to refrain from trips to Azerbaijan because of unsubstantiated data.

"We’ve also witnessed an artificial increase in prices at some hotels, hostels and other places of accommodation and stay, as well as unpleasant moments such as cancelation of seats booked long before the Games, and sale of the same seats for a higher price. All this, forming false ideas about our country and people, can cause negative reviews about Azerbaijan, as well as affect negatively the development of tourism. For this reason, we urge hotels, hostels, private homes and many other hotel-type facilities that are considered facilities of accommodation to avoid such situations when servicing tourists. We invite you to preserve positive image of our country," Nagiyev emphasized.
