Banks` interest income grew by 32% - Report

February 11, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank has published a report on the banking sector for 2019.

According to ABC.AZ information, compared with 2018, banks' interest and related expenses decreased in 2019.

Thus, in 2018 the relevant expenditures amounted to AZN 581.9 million and in 2019 – AZN 547.9 million (reduced by AZN 34 million). Interests on bank deposits decreased by AZN 5.4 million to AZN 372.4 million.

Last year banks' interest income increased by AZN 174.6 million or 32% up to AZN 723.7 million. In 2018 non-interest income of banks amounted to AZN 549.1 million.

Non-interest expenses of banks exceed non-interest income. Last year non-interest expenditures of banks grew up to AZN 1.205 million (rise by AZN 180 million). With the growth of interest income the operating profit of banks increased by AZN 154.4 million last year up to AZN 849 million. In 2018 the banks received AZN 694.6 million of operating profit.
