March 13, Fineko/abc.az. The members of the working group, which unites public and private entities operating in the field of transport in Azerbaijan, exchanged views about cargo transportation with Thomas Kargl, a member of the Supervisory Board of Rail Cargo Group (a subsidiary of the Austrian Federal Railway (OBB)).

ABC.AZ reports that it was brought to the attention of the working group that 1.5 million containers a year should be transported in the East-West direction, and the number of containers transported between Europe and China reaches 600,000. This year, the Chinese government plans to transport 150 trains to Xian via the port of Baku along the Middle Corridor and via Turkey to Europe.

Kargl also stressed that in the coming months the temporary storage of goods and the launch of a customs warehouse in the Baku port will serve the interests of large multinational companies operating in the Caspian Sea basin.

At the end of the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Baku Port and Rail Cargo Group. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Taleh Ziyadov, the general director of the Baku Port, and Thomas Kargl, a member of the Supervisory Board of Rail Cargo Group.
