Georgia to give monthly aid of 150 lari to the unemployed assistance for 6 months

April 14, Fineko/abc.az. The government of Georgia is to pay 150 lari (more than $47) for 6 months to citizens who are left without work because of coronavirus.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the foreign media that the relevant statement was made by the International Monetary Fund.

This financial aid will be paid to citizens who pay income tax and are out of work due to the virus epidemic.

"Within the next 6 months persons who have lost their jobs as a result of recent events will be provided with monthly subsidies for unemployment benefits of 150 lari. This rule will cover citizens who have stopped business activities and pay income tax. In addition, business sectors that retain their employees will also receive assistance. The government will also provide subsidies for nine main imported products, such as flour, grain, pasta, rice, butter, sugar, milk, beans and buckwheat. The State will also discuss the entry into force of a credit guarantee scheme to help restore the economy for the post-coronavirus period," the report says.
