April 17, Fineko/abc.az. The issue of temporary exemption from VAT when importing certain goods to Azerbaijan will be considered.

ABC.AZ informs that the statement was made by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms & Communications.

The State Grain Fund currently has a sufficient supply of wheat. On the other hand, Azerbaijan imports part of its food wheat mainly from Russia and Kazakhstan, and this is currently being done.

"The existing potato stocks are also quite sufficient to meet demand. New potatoes will soon enter the market in the country. The situation with the production of onions and other vegetables is also in full order. According to official statistics, the actual sugar reserves in Azerbaijan are 395,000 tons that indicates that there will be no problems with satisfying domestic consumption in the coming months.

Also, in the first 2 months of this year Azerbaijan imported 7,860 tons of rice. Currently, the rice supply is sufficient to meet demand for about 5 months. With meat and dairy products, the demand is met mainly by local production. Work is underway to provide the population with other food products," the Center says.
