IMF president: Income per capita in 170 countries to fall this year

11:30 - 21.04.2020

April 21, Fineko/abc.az. Global economic activity will be reduced on a scale not seen since the great depression of 1929.

ABC.AZ reports that such a statement was made by Kristalina Georgieva, the president of the International Monetary Fund.

She noted that income per capita in 170 countries will also decline this year.

Georgieva drew attention to the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic has led to an unprecedented crisis. She stressed that the Covid-19 crisis is more complex and damages human health and the economy, almost bringing life to a standstill: "This crisis is uncertain and global. The picture is pretty bad. We expect a decline in global economic activity on a scale we haven't seen since the great depression. This year, we’ll see a decline in per capita income in 170 countries. Just a few months ago, we expected an increase in income of 160 per person."
