Rice acreage in Zardab to be expanded up to 300 hectares

April 28, Fineko/abc.az. Serious preparations for rice planting are underway in Zardab district of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Zardab District Executive Power that last year more than 1,000 tons of rice were produced in Zardab from crop area of 211 hectares, this year it is expected to bring the acreage up to 300 hectares.

As the demand for local production, which differs in its quality, increases, land owners expand their acreage from year to year. At present, the rice is planted in the eight crop areas, especially on territories of Yukhari Seyidler, Korpukend, Melikli, and Alibeyli.

Plowing has already been carried out, and a sufficient number of seeds have been prepared. The planting will start from the 2nd decade of May.
