May 5, Fineko/abc.az. The production of 17 tons of cocoon is planned in Imishli this year.

For this purpose, 420 boxes (7,980 g) of silkworm seeds were delivered and distributed on the basis of a contract among 190 silkworm breeders.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Regional Agricultural Development Center that 9 tons 500 kg of cocoon were produced in the district last year.

This year, silkworkers have set a goal to increase production and bring it up to 17 tons.

In this regard, the district has all the necessary conditions for sericulture.

With the purpose to strengthen the silkworm feed base, 108,000 mulberry seedlings have been brought to the district over the past 5 years and planted in certain populated localities, and the necessary care was provided.
