May 20, Fineko/abc.az. The World Bank reported that it renders financial assistance to 100 developing countries in the fight against a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The WB stated that since March a record amount of financial support has been allocated for the economies of countries and strengthening health systems in them. The WB undertook to allocate the financial assistance for $160 bn to developing countries to fight COVID-19 for 15 months. This support was directed to 100 developing countries, covering 70% of the world's population.

"The epidemic and the cessation of economic activity in developed countries can lead to excessive poverty of 60 million people. This could damage the achievements made so far in reducing poverty,” said WB president David Malpass.
