January 16, Fineko/abc.az. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov discussed the issue of Bulgaria's participation in the international transport project Baku-Tbilisi-Kars.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham stated during the final press conference that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was launched in Baku in October of the last year.

"This railway again forms the transport map of Eurasia. It will become the shortest transport route between Europe and Asia. At present, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is in operation and, in terms of distance, it is the shortest route between Europe and Asia. From the point of view of time, cargo from Asia to Europe can be transported along this corridor in just two weeks. Of course, Bulgaria is also located in this corridor, so we instructed the relevant structures to discuss this issue and work was done to increase the freight traffic," the head of state said.
