June 22, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan's economy will contract by 2.6% this year, that is less than the world economy and the economies of oil-exporting countries in the Middle East and Central Asia.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to news agency APA that the above-said statement was made by Vusal Gasimli, the executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms & Communications, when speaking at an online meeting on the theme "The economy of Azerbaijan: in the period of pandemic and post-pandemic".

According to Gasimli, Azerbaijan is in a more favorable position in terms of the impact of the pandemic on the economy:

"But in all cases, the impact of the pandemic on the economy is inevitable, and each of us feels it in our lives. Azerbaijan has adopted a plan of measures to combat the pandemic. the main block of this plan of measures is, first of all, to minimize the impact of the pandemic on the economy of Azerbaijan."
