Number of people entering Georgia from Azerbaijan declined by about 97%


July 1, Fineko/abc.az. The number of visits from Azerbaijan to Georgia decreased by 96.9% in May 2020.

ABC.AZ reports that this figure is indicated in the monthly report of the National Bank of Georgia.

A noticeable decrease was recorded on the number of foreign visitors to Georgia by 94.1% for the reporting month.

The quantity of foreign visitors from Russia and Armenia lowered by 97.8% and 92.1%, respectively.

The National Tourism Administration of Georgia has presented data that 3,276 people came to the country from Azerbaijan in May. Over Jan-May this indicator reduced by 46.2% (versus 2019) to 268,016 people.

The cause of the decline is the closure of land and air borders of Georgia and other countries in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
