Number of Baku Port user passengers declined by 31%

July 21, Fineko/abc.az. The cargo transshipment of the Baku International Trade Sea Port totaled 2.524 million tons for the 1st half of 2020 (by 27% more versus Jan-Jun 2019 - 1.98 million tons), including transit cargo (87% of total cargo transshipment or 2.19 million tons).

The most serious growth in the 1st half of 2020 was recorded in the transshipment of dry cargo (5-fold rise up to 401,000 tons against Jan-Jun 2019). Over the same period the number of large transport vehicles (TIR) increased by 14.4% up to 17,173 units. Of them, 11,776 (68.6%) moved in the direction of Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku and 5,397 (31.4%) - in the direction of Baku-Kuryk-Baku.

Growth was also observed on the transshipment of containers. Thus, 18,547 containers were transported in TEU equivalent, which means an increase of 22% compared the 2019 same term (15,210 TEU for the 1st half of 2019). In connection with the closure of borders because of COVID-19 pandemic, the number of passengers using the services of the Baku Port decreased by 31% to 13,776 people against the 2019 same term.
