President Ilham Aliyev called Vladimir Putin on occasion of Russian weapons supplies to Armenia


August 13, Fineko/abc.az. On 12 August President Ilham Aliyev called Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of state stressed that as a result of the provocative and aggressive act committed by Armenia on July 12-16 in the direction of Azerbaijan’s district Tovuz on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and one civilian were killed. He also noted that as a result of the shelling of villages and settlements along the border by the Armenian Armed Forces, many houses were destroyed and are in disrepair.

The Azerbaijani leader noted that the main goal of this military offensive of Armenia is to involve third parties in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

President Aliyev informed the Russian counterpart that the intensive transportation of military goods from Russia to Armenia after the end of the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border since July 17 has raised serious concerns and questions among the Azerbaijani public.

The head of state stressed that immediately after the military clash on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the volume of military cargo transported from Russia to Armenia using the airspace of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran amounted to more than 400 tons, and noted that the main purpose of the phone call is to clarify this issue.

During the phone conversation the matters related to the agenda of bilateral cooperation between our countries were discussed and mutual intentions were expressed to further strengthen the Azerbaijani-Russian partnership in all spheres.

President Aliyev congratulated Putin on the occasion of the registration of the Russian coronavirus vaccine.
