Azerbaijan’s head: Our oil fields to run out eventually

September 14, Fineko/abc.az. "Naturally, one day our oil fields will be exhausted. However, in the near future we will start operating both new oil and gas fields, and we’ll try to ensure that the production level would remain stable."

ABC.AZ reports that the above-mentioned statement was made by President Ilham Aliyev during the opening of the Vocational Education  Center at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

The head of state continued: "But a natural decline is also inevitable in our main fields of Azeri, Chirag, and Guneshli. We must make up for this gap through the non-oil sector. To maintain the balance of payments at a positive level, of course, we need companies that produce very high-quality export-oriented products and bring in foreign currency."
