Presidents of France and Azerbaijan came to an agreement

12:11 - 28.09.2020

September 28, Fineko/abc.az. French President Emmanuel Macron called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Macron noted that his country is concerned about the emergence of an armed conflict on the Armenia-Azerbaijan contact line and stressed the importance of resolving the conflict through negotiations.

President Aliyev stressed that the Armenian leadership deliberately violates the negotiation process. Armenian leadership’s statement that “Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Armenia" dealt a serious blow to the negotiations. The statement “Azerbaijan should hold negotiations with Nagorno Karabakh” is an attempt to change the format of negotiations, which is unacceptable, and this was stated by the Minsk Group co-chairs. President Aliyev noted that the responsibility for the further development of events related to Armenia’s military provocation lies with the political and military leadership of Armenia. During the phone conversation the parties agreed to conduct contacts through diplomatic channels.
