New project: Electricity tariffs to be calculated by time of day

October 2, Fineko/abc.az. Starting from 2022, electricity tariffs in Azerbaijan may change depending on the time of day. In other words, the country provides for the use of night and day tariffs.

ABC.AZ reports that relevant discussions are ongoing in the government.

The project prepared by the Ministry of Energy in accord with the strategic road for the development of public utilities (electric and thermal energy, water and gas) has been sent to the relevant governmental bodies.

According to the project, electricity will be relatively expensive during peak hours and comparatively cheap during the rest and night hours.

Currently, the cost of 1 kW/h of electricity for consumers of the population group in the country is 7 gapiks with consumption of up to 300 kW/h per month and over 300 kW/h – 11 gapiks.
