Azerbaijani MFA: Armenian leadership calls for a ceasefire are nothing but hypocrisy - STATEMENT

12:01 - 11.10.2020

October 11, Fineko/abc.az.  As a result of Moscow meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian FMs held by the mediation of Russian Federation, despite the agreement to observe a humanitarian ceasefire reached from October 10, 2020, at 12:00, Armenian armed forces continue to grossly violate this agreement, reads the statement of Azerbaijani MFA.

“Immediately after humanitarian ceasefire determined Armenian Armed forces fired on Azerbaijan’s Aghdam and Tartar regions. A few hours later, Armenian Armed Forces attempted to attack in Hadrut and Jabrayil directions of the front.

A medical worker has been seriously injured as a result of the firing by the Armenian armed forces on an ambulance collecting the bodies of Armenian soldiers in Sugovshan and clearly staring at them with a white flag.

On October 11, 2020, during night hours, the second-largest city of Azerbaijan which is located far from the war zone, was subject to heavy shelling by the Armed Forces of the enemy. As a result, 7 people were killed, 34 civilians including kids were injured.
Shelling on civilians and cities by Armenian armed forces after the humanitarian ceasefire agreement is another clear example of barbarism and tt shows that the calls for a ceasefire by the Armenian leadership are nothing but hypocrisy.

Armenia's deliberate firing on civilians, homes, civilian facilities and medical personnel as part of its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan once again demonstrated that the country is violating fundamental norms of international law, including international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, and its obligations and that it is far from the principles of humanism.
We strongly condemn these aggressive acts of Armenia and call on the international community to take decisive steps to force the occupant Armenia to comply with international law and international obligations.
The full responsibility for the situation in the region falls on the Armenian political and military leadership,” the statement reads.
