Azerbaijani head`s aide: Despite fact that Azerbaijan observes humanitarian truce, it is forced to respond to provocations

October 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan agreed to a humanitarian truce, but immediately after that, Armenia began to restore its armed forces and withdraw them to the war zone.

ABC.AZ reports that this was stated by presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev at a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps in our country.

According to Hajiyev, as the president noted, Azerbaijan is not waging a war against the Armenian people.

"Azerbaijan does not take aim at the civilian population of Armenia. Azerbaijan is aimed only at military targets. The Armenian side speaks about the existing threat against it. Although Azerbaijan observes the humanitarian truce, it is forced to respond to Armenia's provocations. These actions of the occupying country are in violation of all international conventions and laws, which emphasize that the civilian population and infrastructure should not be shelled. In the event of an attack, we are responsible for protecting the civilian population. International law requires the separation of civilian and military objectives. The Hague Constitution categorically prohibits bombing, attacks on peaceful cities and villages,” Hajiyev underlined.
