The developers of the program stated that since last year WhatsApp has been working over a new feature that automatically deletes messages after a certain period of time.

This feature, called "disappearing messages", will be added to WhatsApp very soon. The company also explained how this option will be used in correspondence. It is reported that users will be given an independent setting to delete messages from the group history or personal chat after seven days. They will disappear from both the sender and the recipient. This feature will not affect messages sent before activation. In addition, even if the user doesn't open WhatsApp within seven days, the message will be deleted after seven days. However, the message can be seen in the notification list before opening WhatsApp.
