Hassan Rouhani: Iran welcomes any efforts to reduce tensions in the region

November 10, Fineko/abc.az. Iran is happy to see the end of the conflict between the two neighboring countries - Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the beginning of a diplomatic settlement process.

ABC.AZ reports that the above-said statement was made by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

"Iran hopes that the two countries will resolve their differences in peace and within the framework of international law," Rouhani said.

According to the Iranian leader, Iran positively assesses any efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing a lasting and just peace and security in the region.

"Iran has developed a plan for establishing peace and a ceasefire and has held intensive discussions with the parties to the conflict and other countries. The foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been based on the principle of good-neighborliness and peaceful coexistence. The basis of our foreign policy is the daily development of trade and economic relations with friendly and neighboring countries and ensuring the economic development of the region. We also welcome the initiatives of friendly countries in this area.”
