Statement about ban on tomato import to Russia

December 9, Fineko/abc.az. A study has been launched in connection with Rosselkhoznadzor's decision to ban the import of tomatoes and apples in Russia from Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that this was stated in the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA).

It was noted that Russia has repeatedly revealed harmful organisms in imported products and informed AQTA about this.

"In this regard, in order to preserve the phytosanitary well-being and prevent the import and spread of these pests on the territory of the Russian Federation, Rosselkhoznadzor is forced to ban the import of Azerbaijani tomatoes and apples in Russia from 10 December 2020," AQTA said.
