Demand for US dollar grows

11:56 - 12.01.2021

January 12, Fineko/abc.az. Demand for the US dollar is increasing.

ABC.AZ reports that experts point to a range of factors that trigger this trend.

Analysts believe that in recent weeks the US currency has received support due to the growth of US government bond yields - the yield on 10-year US government bonds reaches 1.127% at auction, since the beginning of the year the growth was more than 20 basis points.

In addition, this week traders are waiting for the speech of US President-elect Joe Biden, who promised to outline his economic program on 14 January.

Experts from Commerzbank think that by the end of the year the government bond yields will decline, as the current "euphoria" about coronavirus vaccines and expectations of a more expansionary fiscal policy under the Biden administration are likely to be followed by a "period of disappointment".
