Internal Affairs Ministry investigated a case of illegal dollar exchange at Central Bank’s appeal

January 12, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has conducted an investigation, based on the request of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ was informed at the MIA that as a result of the operation, the police detained citizen Nemat Mammadov on the suspicion of illegal currency exchange, when he tried to sell $40,000 for 69,900 manats.

The detainee tried to sell dollars more expensive than the official state exchange rate offers, that is, 1 dollar for 1 manat 74 gapiks.

The taken operational & investigative measures proved that Mammadov, without obtaining permission from the relevant state bodies and a special license, was secretly engaged in the purchase and sale of various currency banknotes and thus received large-scale income.
