February 23, Fineko/abc.az. Starting from this year the retirement age of women in Azerbaijan will be increased by six months.

ABC.AZ reports the above-said statement was made in an interview for TV channel Yeni TV by Elnur Abbasov, the head of the Department of Pension Policy Control & Personalized Accounting of the Ministry of Labor & Social Protection.

He added that this issue will be applied from July.

"Since 1 July 2017 Azerbaijan has started the process of gradually increasing the age by six months annually. The pension age increase process does not cover men, whose age already reached 65 years as of 1 July 2020 and women whose age reached 62 years this year. The pension age will be increased by 6 months each year, and the process will continue until the age of 65," the Ministry's representative said.
