Statement: Why did Moneygram suspend operations in Azerbaijan?

April 7, Fineko/abc.az. Information about the facts of making payments using money transfer system Moneygram, which illegally operated in the previously-occupied territories of Azerbaijan before the victorious 44-day Patriotic War, has been spreading in social networks lately.

ABC.AZ reports that in this regard, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan has made a statement.

The CBA states in this connection that the Moneygram system did operate illegally in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in certain periods, and since the discovery of this fact, in accordance with national legislation and international principles, adequate measures have been taken to stop its activities in Azerbaijan. As a result, since 2008 Moneygram’s activity in Azerbaijan has been suppressed, and today no bank is in business relations with this money transfer system.
