A food bank may be created in Azerbaijan

May 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency and the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs’ Confederation have held a meeting.

ABC.AZ reports that during the meeting the parties touched upon the problem of food losses in Azerbaijan and the establishment of a food bank.

It was noted that over the past months of 2020 and 2021, a decision was made to destroy 7,489 tons, 84,000 decaliters of products, and to dispose 92,000 tons, 113 dal of products.

Proposals were sounded for the reuse of expired products, the creation of a food bank, and the delivery of this food bank to needy low-income families with the help of NGOs.
