May 21, Fineko/abc.az. As of 1 May 2021 the number of economically active people in Azerbaijan amounted to 5.264 million persons, ABC.AZ informs with reference to the monthly report of the State Statistics Committee.

According to the report, for the reported period 23.5% of employees hired at enterprises and organizations are involved in the manufacturing industry, including 7.4% in manufacturing, 7.2% in construction, 3.4% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2% in mining, 1.9% in water supply, waste treatment and recycling, 1.6% in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.

19.7% of the employees engaged in the service sector accounted for the field of education, 18.5% for trade; vehicle repair, 8.3% for health and social services, 6.7% for public administration and defense; social security, 5.3% for provision of administrative and support services, 4.5% for transport and warehousing, 3.4% for professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.2% for recreation, entertainment and art, 1.8% for information and communication, 1.7% for financial and insurance activities, 1.4% for tourist accommodation and catering, 1.1% for provision of services in other areas and 0.9% for real estate transactions.
