June 3, Fineko/abc.az. Russian Railways’ subsidiary Russian Railways Logistics (RZD) plans to launch in June 2021 a regular cargo (container) train from India to Russia, and its route, among other countries, will pass through Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that the above-said statement was made by Russian Railways’ general director Dmitry Murev at a conference within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to Murev, until now, trains were sent only in test mode on international transport corridor North-South.
"We plan to launch another train, not a test train, but a permanent one. The absence of a railway line (in Iran) does not prevent us from organizing transportation. Yes, there they are automobile, but it is in any case a multimodal service," he added.
