114 million people lost their jobs because of pandemic

July 7, Fineko/abc.az. The number of people who lost their jobs worldwide in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic reached 114 million people compared with 2019.

ABC.AZ reports that these figures are reflected in the report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), which unites 37 countries, on the employment forecast for 2021.

Although some jobs were restored as a result of the economic recovery in the OECD countries, the number of the unemployed in May 2021 was 43.5 million people.

This is 8.1 million more people than in February 2020. The unemployment rate in May was 6.6% (2.2% more than before the pandemic).
